 CORD CUTTING

As a reader, ask yourself first your age, and then what tv shows you watch and how you watch them. If you are roughly under the age of 25, it is most likely you make use of streaming services. Over 1 million Americans have now switched from cable to online streaming.

When you think of online streaming, do you think of a lap top? That was the original fad, however, now tv providers are incorporating a more app based user experience, that takes the viewer right to the app options upon powering on the television.

Cable subscriptions are coming to an end. Advertising has caught on to this, and created a system I find very interesting. Cable television is not entirely gone, adults are still holding on, so therefore, television ads are more targeted to this demographic. Half of cable users are over 60 years old. On the other hand, tv streaming ads are generally targeted to a younger demographic.

There are children today that will never grow up with cable television being a regular part of life.  That was one of the most jarring facts in my research. All of the media giants are transforming into this new way of entertainment. It is now one of the biggest goals in the media empire circle, to create the most desirable service. While Netflix, Hulu, and HBO remain giants, there are new and improved

services popping up every day.
